PLUS, she has the most amazing recommendations for yummiest food and awesome tips that will help you plan your outdoor adventure there now! So here ya go:
Hike #1:
Sandy Hook Multi-Use Trail
9.4 Miles Out and Back
Gateway National Recreation AreaGenerally a very popular trail with ocean views for walking, running, biking, fishing, walking, birding and so much more.
Bring your swimsuit and spend the day exploring the many beaches. There’s also options to boat, canoe, kayak and tons of water sports. If you snag one earlier enough in the season, tent camping spots are available as well.
*Eats and Tips*
Great local coffee: Rook, Booskerdoo & Coffee Corral are some of my favorite. There are tons of amazing restaurants to choose from in the area like Bahrs Landing in Highlands, The Rum Runner, or My Kitchen Witch in Monmouth Beach. If you are wanting more hikes with ocean views, head over to Hartshorns Woods Park next, or stroll downtown Red Bank for plenty of cute shops.
Hike #2:
Mount Tammany: Red Dot and Blue Dot Loop Trail
Worthington State Forest 3.6 Mile Loop
*Eats and Tips*
Grab a hoagie (sub or sandwich) to go from any Wawa on your way and have lunch at the top with gorgeous views of Mt. Minsi and the Delaware Water Gap below.
If you want to spend more time exploring the area - spend an afternoon floating down the Delaware River in a tube, canoe, kayak or raft at one of the many rental shops! Our favorite is Kittatinny Canoes, which has great campgrounds you can stay at along the river as well.
Hike #3:
Sourland Mountain Trail LoopSourland Mountain Preserve
2.2 Mile LoopThis loop is a great option for a quicker hike that is still slightly challenging and provides some much deserved solitude in nature.
*Eats and Tips*
Head into downtown Princeton after to explore.
-Small World Coffee is the perfect pick me up. -There are so many great restaurants you can’t really go wrong. Some favorites include Agricola, Mamoun’s Falafel, Alchemist & Barrister, Mediterra, PJ’s Pancake House, Olives, The Dinky, and so many more. -You obviously have to try BOTH The Bent Spoon and Halo Pub to decide for yourself which local ice cream is best.
Thank you Kels for all your amazing information Definitely a place we all need to come explore!
