Aletschglacier
You do *need* a guide! It’s often a 2 or 3 day tour where you walk 4 – 6 hours per day. You often start the hike at “Jungfraujoch” and walk down the upper part of the glacier. The night is spent in the mountain hut “Konkordiahütte” and it’s a one way trip. It’s absolutely breathtaking.
Elevation Jungfraujoch: 3463m
Elevation Konkordiahütte: 2850m
Hiking distance: ca 24 km
Säntis
You can hike up on your own, it takes about 3 hours. Careful in winter though, it’s quite icy and can be slippery. If you’re too tired to hike back down you can also take the cable car.
Elevation Säntis: 2502m
Hiking distance: ca 4,5 km
Etzlihütte
It has different hikes to get there. So you can choose the path depending on your level of fitness. At the hut they do have a hot tub. What a special experience, to be in the mountains in a hot tub.
Elevation Etzlihütte: 2052m
Hiking distance: easiest hike (from Bristen) ca 8 km
